When life gives you lemons, you should exchange them for cucumbers for your puffy little eyes.
Life does seem to come with a whole lot difficulty at times. This can be very frustrating, and I know I often let it get me down. It appears that stress is inevitable when you have a life full of planning and attending social events, making appearances, and keeping in tip top shape. So many of my dear friends wonder how it is that I keep my sanity in this crazy, whirlwind of a life that I live. Well, my lovelies, my secret is no secret at all. I take my cares to the spa. Now, a spa visit can be very relaxing, but some services can be quite the opposite. So, if you are looking to let out a little steam and chillax a bit, then follow these simple spa services dos and don’ts. You will be relaxed and pampered in no time, ready to take on the lush life you live!
Do – Get a Swedish Massage
Now, please do not get me wrong, I love a deep tissue massage like little kids love crayons, or whatever it is they love. What I’m trying to say is deep tissue massages have their place and time, like the day after your two hour tennis lesson with that oh-so-cute tennis pro at the country club. However, if you want the ultimate relaxing massage, opt for a Swedish massage. The long and gentle strokes will coax you into a deep relaxed state. Another massage bonus is that the increased circulation can help prevent cellulite, not that I would get cellulite anyway.
Don’t – Schedule a Wax
Waxes are necessary, we all know this. The fact is that even though we grin and bear it when we must, there is absolutely no way you will feel relaxed when going into the spa for a wax. Make sure that you separate your needs and wants at the spa. You need waxes, and you want relaxation. Obviously that just means you will have to set up the appointment to get de-haired for another day and time.
Do – Show Up an Hour Early
Lavish spas always have the best amenities. Take advantage of that to get the most from your spa day. You can go to the spa an hour or more prior to your service to enjoy the sauna or steam room, soothing music, and my all-time favorite, spa water. Is there anything better? I think not!
Don’t – Choose Just Any Facial
When you are laying on a heated table under soft and cozy sheets getting your scalp massage and skin rejuvenated relaxation takes over the whole body. Just thinking about it slows my heart rate. Imagine though, you’re there, feeling nothing but pure relaxation and then the esthetician gets to poking and extracting impurities! Uh, way to ruin it, spa girl! When you are wanting to do nothing but enjoy just being, a facial that includes extractions is not going to help. Make sure that the esthetician implicitly understands that you want relaxation. Like waxing, extractions are a need, not a want.
